SUMMARY:Reading Group: Gabriel Rockhill's Who Paid the Pipers of Western Marxism?
DESCRIPTION:In preparation for Gabriel Rockhill’s upcoming tour in December\, join us from September as we collectively read his recent exploration into the Western Marxist intellectual tradition\, Who Paid the Pipers of Western Marxism? \nThe reading group will focus on the first part of Rockhill’s study\, where his overall theoretical project is outlined in terms of the development of a political economy of knowledge production. From this perspective\, we will analyse topics such as Rockhill’s conception of Western Marxism\, the structure of the imperial intellectual apparatus\, and the material relations between Western Marxism and imperialism during the twentieth century; and we will reflect on the relevance of these questions for articulating a historical materialist approach to the contemporary Marxist tradition in the imperial core.
