Naarm Film Night – “Cubanas, Women in Revolution”

Join the Red Anti-Imperialist Collective and the Latin America Solidarity Network for a screening of the documentary “Cubanas, Women in Revolution” (dir. María Torrellas, 2018) to celebrate the pivotal roles and struggles carried out by women in Cuba’s continuous revolutionary process.

This will be the first installation of our upcoming film screening series on the Cuban revolution — full program will be released this week! 👀

This event will be raising funds for Cuban solidarity campaigns. All funds collected will go to the Australian Cuban Friendship Society – Naarm.

Synopsis:
A documentary that highlights the pivotal role of women in the guerrilla struggle and the revolution’s evolution. It features heroines like Vilma Espín, Celia Sánchez, and Haydée Santamaría, alongside voices of workers, doctors, artists, and activists from various backgrounds. It explores themes like literacy, education, resistance to the blockade, solidarity, and LGBT marches for sexual diversity, offering a powerful, emotional portrayal of Cuba’s sociocultural landscape through the eyes of women.
